How to Curate the Perfect Work-From-Home Routine

by Marisa Papa

The past four years have been a learning experience for all as we began to, and continue to, navigate working from home and a hybrid work model. At LPR, we know that there’s nothing better than being together in our cozy Hoboken coworking space, Sweven, but one of my favorite perks is having the opportunity to work from home a few days a week. Though it took a few rounds of trial and error to get me to love working from home, I’ve rounded up a few of my (self-proclaimed)-expert tips for curating the perfect work-from-home routine:

  1. Set a Schedule – Whether you’re like me and like to work out in the morning, or your dog likes to go for a walk at lunch, or you just like to have ‘me time’ at specific points of the day, setting up a schedule is key in finding the balance of working from home. It can be easy to get caught up while working from home, but knowing when to close the computer and reset will go a long way.
  1. Designate a Dedicated Workspace – Having a space specifically designed for work can help establish boundaries between your work life & personal life. Keeping an organized workspace and minimizing clutter and distractions will increase productivity. My desk setup is not complete without a lit candle, an inspirational calendar, and a stack of this season’s books to inspire my daily work.
  1. Look the Part – Since March 2020 I have been a huge advocate for getting dressed for work every day, even when it means sitting in my home office in ‘hard pants’. Whether it’s a meeting-heavy day or not, I have found that looking the part helps me produce my best work, and really get in the mindset for work.
  1. Stay Connected – It can be easy to go an entire work day with your head down, crossing off items on the to do list, and all of a sudden, it’s 5pm and you realize you haven’t spoken to one person. At LPR, our Teams chats are always buzzing, whether it be talking about the most recent celebrity gossip, sharing trending topics in our client’s industries, or sharing exciting media wins across the agency!

Even though I love working from home (and having the chance to blast/ sing music all day without judgement), nothing beats in-office days with the full team and collaborating with the bright minds at LPR.
